Meadowbrook / Greenmead

Renamed Greenmead in 1920 by new owners, the Joshua Simmons farm in Livonia, Michigan was named Meadow Brook by the original owner who purchased the 160 acres of wilderness in 1824. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, today it serves as a cultural center for the community by hosting special events throughout the year. The complex contains buildings which span more than a century, including an 1841 Greek Revival farmhouse. The house has become the Historical Museum for the City of Livonia, and a separate complex of historic buildings forms Livonia Historical Village. Each is furnished for its time period and is open to the public for guided interpretive tours. Greenmead Historical Park is documented in historical text and photographs.
