Indiana Black Expo
Known as IBE, this non-profit community service
organization has as its mission the social and economic advancement
of African-Americans. It hosts the largest African-American
cultural event in the nation, Summer Celebration, and co-hosts
Circle City Classic, the second largest African-American sporting
event in the nation. It sponsors other programs and events
year-round, such as its scholarship program and We Can Feed the
Hungry. Founded in 1970 by religious and civic leaders, it is
documented in historical text, photographs, a videotape of the 1997
Summer Celebration, and official publications.
