Seymour Oktoberfest

Inspired by a 1972 visit to Schweitzer Fest, an annual festival held by neighboring Tell City, Indiana, members of the Seymour Jaycees determined that their town should have its own street celebration, reminiscent of street fairs of long ago. Because many in Jackson County were of German heritage, it was decided that the annual festival should reflect this theme. Thus was born the Seymour "Oktoberfest," opening in 1973. From the first, it was a great success. Twenty-seven years later, the Oktoberfest has become a vital and inseparable part of the Seymour community.
