Gilbert Days

An eight-day commemoration of the agricultural history of a town that began as a rural outpost and was once called the "hay growing capital of Arizona." Now a rapidly growing suburb of Phoenix, Gilbert still includes farmland where crops such as cotton, alfalfa, and corn are grown. However, much of the land is slated for new home construction, and Gilbert Days is a cultural resource to draw from in ongoing efforts to preserve the rural character of the older community.
