Oyster Festival (South Norwalk)

A family-oriented festival featuring live bands, arts and crafts displays, children's activities, sky divers, fireworks, and waterside activities. The event raises funds to restore and preserve the 135-year-old Sheffield Island Lighthouse. Documented by three copies of the 23rd Annual Oyster Festival ("The 2 1/2 Day City"), the program is completely unscripted, and is told entirely in the words of some of the 3,000 volunteers who put the festival together each year. Members of the Norwalk Seaport Association work in partnership with over 40 community groups who benefit from the event. As documented on the video, their voices belie a passion for the welfare of their community of South Norwalk.
