First Eagle Scout in Gaithersburg, Maryland
Project documents the life of Mr. C. Edwin Becraft,
lifelong resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland, who became a member of
Boy Scout Troop 236 in 1938. Within the last 50 years, Montgomery
County has seen radical changes, being transformed from a region of
sleepy, rural towns to sprawling cities, a center for technology
and corporate headquarters. During that period, Boy Scouting in
Montgomery County has also seen dramatic changes. An interview with
Mr. Becraft, resulting in a transcript submitted with the project,
highlights those changes.
