The Gettysburg Address
On November 19, 1863, several months after the battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3), President Lincoln made a "few appropriate remarks" at the consecration of a cemetery for the Union war dead. This exhibition features two of the five known drafts of the Gettysburg Address, the only known photograph of Lincoln at Gettysburg, and several Gettysburg related documents.

This Special Presentation explores black America's quest for equality from the early national period through the twentieth century. It showcases more than 240 items including a wide array of important and rare books, government documents, manuscripts, maps, musical scores, plays, films, and recordings.
