Our transcription: As we approach the Twenty-First Century, the fact that Earth's geologic resources are in finite supply is a reality that affects us all. There are very real and very predictable limits to the resources available for our use, and the primary reason for these limits is not supply; it's demand. It took four million years for Earth's population to reach two billion. The third billion was added in just 30 years, and today we are growing at almost 100 million people every single year. With a population and a demand for resources both exploding, we as individuals can no longer continue along a path of energy addiction and wastefulness. No longer can nations afford to take from the land while ignoring the consequences to neighboring nations and to the other forms of life with which we share this planet. And no longer can the world community afford to only view Earth through the myopic eyes of competing self interests. We need to adopt a global view, both in our technology and our philosophy.
