Our transcription: In few places is this more true than in an area of California's Palos Verdes Peninsula called "Portuguese Bend."

It's wide open spaces and magnificent views would make this an ideal place to live were it not for the problem of landslides, which are mass wasting events that move faster than either creep or slump.

Here in the 1950s a slump occurred which later spread out downslope as an earthflow, but that was just the beginning.
