Paige Names Deputy General Counsel for Postsecondary and Regulatory Service

U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige recently announced that Eric Hector Jaso will serve as Deputy General Counsel for Postsecondary and Regulatory Service.

As deputy general counsel, Jaso will advise senior department officials on legal issues relating to universities and other postsecondary institutions, as well as the development of department policy and regulations.

Prior to joining the Department of Education, Jaso worked as a senior litigation associate for Latham & Watkins in New Jersey. His practice primarily included white-collar criminal defense, health care fraud and abuse, corporate internal investigations and general commercial litigation.

Jaso, a native of Providence, Rhode Island, graduated cum laude from Harvard University and received his juris doctor degree from the University of Chicago.
