The Center for Mathematical Studies in Economics and Management Science (CMS-EMS) was created in 1971 to bring together economists, managerial economists, mathematicians, and social scientists at Northwestern University who use mathematical methods and models in their work. A major focus of research at the Center has been the analysis and design of systems, organizations, and institutions for managing and regulating recent economic and political activities. The theory of games is an important focus of interest.
