Description: MEDLINE indexes the international literature on biomedicine, including the allied health fields and the biological and physical sciences, humanities, and information science as they relate to medicine and health care. The database covers over 10,000 sources - journals published world-wide, as well as selected monographs of congresses and symposia - in clinical medicine, dentistry, experimental medicine, health services administration, health-related education, nursing, nutrition, pathology, psychiatry, toxicology, and veterinary medicine.

The National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health also provide public access to MedlinePlus , which contains preformulated MEDLINE searches to provide easy access to the medical research literature. Additionally, MedlinePlus includes links to a full-text drug information database and an illustrated medical encyclopedia. Similarly, PubMed , also a publicly available service of the National Library of Medicine, includes over 15 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950's. These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life science journals.
