Acme Bookbinding offers a number of digital imaging, printing and binding services. For over 15 years, Acme has worked with College and Research libraries throughout the country to produce preservation facsimiles and digital images. Using a variety of flat bed, oversize and auto feed scanners to suit the job, we can produce clean archival copies and digital files from books and flat paper that may be brittle, discolored, bound or oversized. We utilize overhead color scanning equipment with adjustable cradles to minimize stress when scanning bound and rare materials. This equipment can capture up to 17"X 22" areas. For unbound materials we can scan, in color, up to 55 inches wide and unlimited lengths. Once scanned these oversized materials can be printed on high resolution inkjet printers with archival inks in widths up to 60 inches and unlimited lengths. Material requiring binding are bound to Library Binding Institute Standards. Digital output includes tiffs, pdfs, searchable pdfs, OCR, and XML files. Acme also offers library binding, hard cover trade binding, and paperback "perfect" binding in any quantity from small to very large. ABS can provide both US and non-US materials in the following categories: Associations, Audiovisual, Foreign, Government, Legal, Medical, Non-English Language, and Scientific-Technical. ABS maintains an inventory of over 40,000 volumes, many of which are automatically supplied by the scientific, technical, business, university press and medical publishers with whom ABS is a recognized agent. ABS regularly places special orders with publishers for items not in stock. To facilitate the supply of imported publications, ABS maintains reciprocal agreements with booksellers in England, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Australia, and South America. Customers may place orders by mail or may communicate toll free via telephone, fax, Book Order Express, ABS E-Mail, ABS ONLINE, or PC-based ABS Book Acquisitions System. For regular firm orders, ABS seeks a one week turnaround from publishers, will claim from the publishers after 45 days, and again after 30 days. Dun's Marketing Service's (DMS) Direct Access online information retrieval service provides a user-friendly means to access the most current information on the DMS' Dun's Market Indentifier (DMI) database. The current database lists over 9 million unique U.S. business establishments ranging in size from single proprietorship to Fortune 500 companies. Users can create a multitude of search and data criteria that can be viewed on a personal computer and downloaded for further use. Offline prints are also available. Conquest/BusinessLINE offers access to both DMS's Dun's Market Identifier (DMI) database and Donnelly Marketing Information Services's Conquest database in a cohesive, integrated fashion. Using a PC and CD-ROMs, users interact with either or both files using sophisticated access and report generating software included in the 4-disk product. Over 200 standard reports, including maps, are available as output. DMS's Million Dollar Disc is the single most up-to-date CD-ROM source of in-depth information on the 190,000 largest U.S. public and private companies. The data includes biographies on 500,000 company executives, complete company identification information, geographic information, SICs, and key business relations. The Dun's Business Locator CD is also available. Both CDs are available for LAN applications.

FEDLINK Network Operations

FLICC/FEDLINK Education and Training (FT) offers FEDLINK members training opportunities in the use of the OCLC bibliographic utility's systems and services, library software, and microcomputer and telecommunications technology, conducted both at FEDLINK facilities and on-site with federal libraries. Additional special training events covering library automation products, cataloging procedures, Internet, and the World Wide Web are also offered. The FLICC/FEDLINK home page provides calendars, registration and complete descriptions of the numerous training programs http://www.loc.gov/flicc/mmeduc.html. All FLICC/FEDLINK symposiums, seminars,institutes,programs and training programs are also announced in the monthly TECHNOTES calender as well as in meeting announcements and special mailings. Fees vary depending on the program or event. Classes conducted by FEDLINK instructors at the FEDLINK's training facilities are priced at $125 per student for a full day class and $65 for a half-day session. Members must contact the FEDLINK Network Office to schedule for on-site field training from a FEDLINK Network Instructor. FEDLINK training conducted in the field costs $400 per day plus travel, lodging, and per diem per instructor. The intermuseum Conservation Association's (ICA) paper conservation department is currently staffed with highly qualified paper conservators with master's degrees in paper conservation. Paper conservation and preservation services include: treatment of prints, drawings, watercolors, pastels, manuscripts, documents, architectural drawings, parchments and papyrus artifacts, books and photographs. Varying levels of conservation treatment are available. Before any treatment begins, a paper conservator will examine the article and prepare a written report and estimate recommending one or more courses of treatment. Conservators confer with the client to explain options and discuss their implications. Final choice of treatment will depend on several factors, including the condition of the artifact, its future use, its aesthetic importance, what the media will allow and the client's budget. ICA's paper lab has the capacity to do conservation treatment of large scale works on paper. Paper conservation staff can also provide a preventive conservation-environmental assessment to determine the correct relative humidity, lighting,and temperature and make an in-house storage assessment to recommend proper storage conditions and methods. ICA also offers collection condition assessments, condition checking of incoming and outgoing exhibitions, and custom mounts, custom frames and archival matting.

The Northeast Document Conservation Center(NEDCC) can provide a wide variety of preservation and conservation services to federal libraries including: * digital imaging of bound and unbound materials * conservation treatment of bound and unbound library and archival materials * preservation microfilming of bound and unbound materials, * duplication of photographic negatives and prints, * surveys, training and consulting. The range of available services makes it possible for institutions to meet virtually all of their preservation and conservation needs using one vendor. NEDCC provides services to individual collections-holding institutions with a goal of helping them preserve rare and original materials through improved collections care. NEDCC performs conservation treatments and reformating for large and small libraries and archives throughout the United States. Professional staff conserves a wide variety of paper-based and parchment materials including documents, works of art on paper, maps, photograpghs, globes, historic wallpaper, rare books and pamphlets, photograph albums, and scrapbooks. Specialties include treatment and reformating of rare, complex, oversize, and especially damaged materials as well as large projects. Conservation treatments range from simple stabilization to complex repair. Imaging services are primarly for rare, original, oversize or fragile materials. Digital files can be delivered on CD, DVD or external hard drive as dictated by the size of the project. Northern Micrographics specializes in digital imaging to preserve fragile or endangered materials such as brittle books, photographs and film. Digital imaging services include scanning microfilm in aperture card, 16mm, 35mm and 105mm formats and paper from A to E size roll drawings. Northern Micrographics has the ability to scan bi-tone, halftone and color images and have developed image processing software for image enhancement for superior image quality. The scanned data can be placed on a variety of media including magnetic tape, CD-ROM or DVD media. Scanned data can also be OCR/ICR'd for full text search capability from a text search engine. Preservation microfilm services include master and duplicate reproduction of both 16mm and 35mm format film. Production and distribution of microfilm in 105mm microfiche format is also available. Northern Micrographics offers fulfillment services to distribute copies of reproduced materials to customers in digital, film/fiche or paper formats and operates an in-house binding department that specializes in producing reference quality, over-sewn case bindings for monographs, serials and theses. After more than 50 years of pioneering in microform and digital imaging technology, Northern Micrographics stands amongst the industry leaders. All Northern Micrographics' administrative and production activities are housed in one 36,000 square foot facility that includes a 2,200 square foot, ANSI standard vault for archival storage of all digital and film masters.

OCLC, Online Computer Center, Inc., is a not-for-profit computer library service and research organization providing a family of information systems to a variety of libraries and cultural institutions. The OCLC Members Council, comprised of delegates elected regionally, provides oversight and guidence to OCLC management. OCLC WorldCat provides immediate access to an extensive bibliographic database, used by libraries as the basis to perform many functions: cataloging, interlibrary loan, union listing of serial and other holdings, collection assessment, digital archiving and a register of digital masters. The OCLC FirstSearch service provides access to WorldCat and other third- party databases through an interface supporting both end-user access and expert searching. Training and assistance in using the OCLC system are provided by the FEDLINK Network Librarians for the Federal OCLC membership. This contract also covers services rendered by OCLC Pica to US federal libraries in Europe, and training provided by OCLC Western to US federal libraries on the West Coast. ADDITIONAL CONTRACTS REQUIRING SEPARATE ACCOUNTS: Training from other OCLC Regional Support networks is payable through other FEDLINK contracts. In addition, there are seperate contracts for NetLibrary services and preservation-related services. West employs a rigorous editorial process to ensure that every opinion available on Westlaw is correct and properly classified. West's attorney-editors use consistant language when writing synopses and head notes. They also add synonyms, acronyms, terms of art, names of acts, generic names, and other research terms to ensure that Westlaw searches retrieve relevant cases that might otherwise be missed by searching just the text of court opinion. * Westlaw is powerful. More than five million links are added every year to documents on Westlaw, and nearly every word in the documents available on Westlaw is a possible search term or indexing term. State-of-the-art search methods enable users to retrieve results in seconds that could be difficult or even impossible to achieve using print resources. The Personnet Library on Westlaw is designed to provide federal government human resources professionals with the full spectrum of personnel law resource information. It provides the most complete, up-to- date, unified source of statues, regulations, decisions, and opinions (including historical and archived documents) that affect human resources compliance for federal employees. A wide range of CD-ROM Libraries and West print publications are also available under the terms of West's FEDLINK contract, making West a "one- stop shop" for print and electronic products and services. As a rsult of the purchase of Global Securities, Inc., West is now offering the LIVEDGAR database of company information for domestic and inteernational businesses that come under the purview of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). West is also now offering the following products and solutions via their FEDLINK Schedule IDIQ:

West km for Litigation offers users the ability to catagorize and search for an organization's internal documents using West's KeySearch(r) taxonomy, find internal documents by cited reference using KeyCite(r) technology, and search for internal documents using Westlaw(r) search methods

Brief Tools is a legal research product that allows users to instantly view the status of cited cases, statutes, regulations,and administrative decisions, and link to the full-text documents on Westlaw: retrieve internal documents that contain a particular citation; monitor the status of individual citations; or citations within a document; and create an online report with KeyCite(r) status flags and links to the full-text documents on westlaw.

LiveNote SR is a robust transcript and evidence management tool that helps user organize the facts of a case, analyze exhibilts, and summarize all of the transcripts.

LiveNote Realtime enables users to receive live transcript text, audio, and video directly from the court reporter or videographer.

The World Bank, Office of the Publisher, offers subscriptions to five electronic resources: e-Library, World Development Indicators Online, Global Development Finance Online, Afica Development Indicators Online and Global Economic Monitor.

* e-Library is one of the most comprehensive collections in the area of social and economic development. It is an electronic portal to the World Bank's full-text collection of books, reports, and other documents. It brings together, in a fully indexed and cross-searchable database, and in PDF format, over 5,000 titles published by the World Bank since 2000, as well as every new title as it becomes available in print.

* World Development Indicators (WDI Online) is the premier data source on the global economy. WDI Online contains stastical data for over 850 indicators and time series data from 1960, covering for 200 countries and 18 regional country groups.

* Global Development Finance(GDF Online): Contains statistical data from 1970 for the 135 countries that report public and publicly- guaranteed debt to the World Bank Reporting System. The database covers 216 indicators such as external debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, and key debt ratios as well as average terms of new commitments, currency composition of long-term debt, debt restructuring and scheduled debt service projections.

* Africa Development Indicators (ADI Online) provides the most comprehensive collection of data on Africa available. The ADI contains data for over 1,000 statistical indicators and time series from 1965 for 53 countries. Data include social, economic, financial, natural resources, infrastructure, governance, partnership, and environmental indicators.

* Global Econmic monitor (GEM) features up-to-date analysis on global economic conditions, including a daily brief and event-driven focus reports, direct access to high-frequency datasets, commodity price indicators, quarterly and annual macroeconomic indicatorsand online publications of forecasts for commodity prices and main macroeconomic indicators for 130 countries.

Access to the World Bank online Resources is made through IP authentication and/or through a secured referral URL page.

Pricing is based on the total number of FTE (full-time equivalence, students and staff) for academic institutions and on the total number of data users across the organization for other types of institutions.
