REPORT of
THE JOINT ISSUE GROUP on SELECTION (JIG-S)

This document outlines the Joint Issue Group on Selection's (JIG-S) recommendations for the selection of materials done by the staff of the Library of Congress. The group began by examining existing selection processes for the three CO (Copyright Office) workflows: 1) voluntary deposits; 2) demand deposits; 3) deposits submitted for claim registration. For each workflow, JIG-S looked at monographs, serials, and special format deposits. Special format deposits include materials collected by the Geography & Map Division, the Law Library, the Music Division, and Prints & Photographs Division. The Motion Picture Broadcasting/Recorded Sound Division JIG reviewed selection practices for moving image and recorded sound material. This document includes the JIG's selection recommendations in four elements of the selection process:
