LtCol Michael P. Rohlfs Jr.

Executive Officer, CBIRF

LtCol Michael P. Rohlfs Jr. currently serves as the Executive Officer, Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, II MEF, Indian Head, MD.

Lieutenant Colonel Rohlfs was born in Massachusetts and was commissioned in 1991 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Course at Auburn AL.  Upon completion of The Basic School, he reported to Logisitics Officer Course in Little Creek, VA.

Second Lt. Rohlfs reported to II Force Service Support Group at Camp Lejeune, where he deployed with 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit for two six month deployments.  

In 1995, 1stLt Rohlfs reported to Marine Security Guard Battalion, Charlie Company in Bangkok, Thailand, where he served as an Inspecting Officer and held the billet as Operations Officer for a year before fleeting up to the Executive Officer.  During this tour he was promoted to Captain.

In 1997, Capt Rohlfs attended Command and Control Systems Course at Quantico, VA.  Upon graduation he transferred to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division where he served as the Logistics Officer for the Battalion Landing Team and deployed with 15th MEU.  After the deployment he assumed the duties as H&S Company Commanding Officer until June of 2001.

Major Rohlfs then transferred to U.S. Pacific Command where he served at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies as the College of Security Studies Operations Officers and the Operations Officer for the Admissions Section.  During this tour Major Rohlfs completed the Marine Corps’ Command and Staff non-residence course and attended Joint Force Staff College in Norfolk, VA.

In 2004, Major Rohlfs reported to 3rd Marine Air Wing for duty in the G-4 as the Current Operations Officer during his first deployment to Iraq.  Upon completion of this deployment in 2005, he assumed the duties as Operation Officer for Marine Wing Support Squadron – 373.  As the Operations Officer he prepared and deployed the unit for his second tour in Iraq.

LtCol. Rohlfs reported into the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) in July of 2007.

LtCol Rohlfs’ personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Joint Achievement Medal.
