New Literary Map of Metropolitan Washington to Be Discussed at the Library of Congress on November 1

A new literary map of Metropolitan Washington, produced by the Washington Chapter of the Woman's National Book Association (WNBA) and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, will be previewed and discussed at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the Mumford Room, sixth floor, James Madison Building, 101 Independence Avenue S.E. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature the presentation of the map's original art work to the Library of Congress and a slide presentation about literary maps by Martha Hopkins of the Library's Interpretive Programs Office, the researcher and writer for the new literary map. The event is sponsored by the Center for the Book, the Washington Chapter of WNBA, and the District of Columbia Center for the Book, located at the Martin Luther King Library.

A Literary Map of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., designed and illustrated by Sheila Harrington of Studio Five, is 26 by 19 inches. It costs $7.95 and is available in the Library of Congress Sales Shop and in bookstores and museum shops throughout the Washington area.
