New Reprint of Library of Congress History Now Available

The Library has reprinted Jefferson's Legacy: A Brief History of the Library of Congress, by John Y. Cole, Director of the Center for the Book. Originally published in 1993, this popular and well-illustrated 103-page book has been out of print for more than a year. It outlines the Library's history and provides basic information about its collections and buildings. Brief biographies of the 13 Librarians of Congress conclude the volume.

Jefferson's Legacy is available only from the Library of Congress Sales Shop, Washington, DC 20540-4985. The cost is $11. A companion volume, On These Walls: Inscriptions and Quotations in the Buildings of the Library of Congress (1995), is available in the Library Shop and from the Government Printing Office for $8.50. To order from the Library of Congress Sales Shop by credit card, call (202) 707-0204.
