Barbra Streisand
Awarded: April 2000
(b. April 24, 1942)
Barbra Streisand once termed herself as “the actress who sings.” In 1962, she signed a contract with Columbia Records and her debut album rose to the top of the charts. She moved onto Broadway to play Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl” for which she was awarded a Tony. She starred in the movie version and won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. She went on to star in many other successful films and then turned her attention to directing and producing. She is perhaps the only artist to earn Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, Cable Ace and Peabody Awards recognizing her many talents and body of works.
