Jeane Kirkpatrick

Jeane Kirkpatrick worked for the Department of Defense from 1955-72. In 1967 she joined the faculty of Georgetown University, becoming a full professor of political science in 1978. In the 1970s, she became active in politics and served as Ronald Reagan’s foreign policy adviser during his 1980 campaign. After his election, President Reagan nominated Kirkpatrick as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a position she held from 1981 to 1985.
