The Department of Defense, in partnership with the Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and 20 academic partners, has developed the DoD Groundwater Modeling System. The GMS provides an integrated and comprehensive computational environment for simulating subsurface flow, contaminant fate/transport, and the efficacy and design of remediation systems.
Within the Defense Department, many projects require unique chemical assessment involving unknown compounds, complex assays, and multiple samples. Unknowns create special problems because commercial contracts must specify the exact procedures, compounds to be identified, and detection limits. When environmental compliance is at issue, the customer may need results very quickly. The ECL provides a one-stop service to meet these requirements affordably.
