	Selections from the Rare Book and Special Collections Division This selection of rare books from the 15^th, 16^th, 17^th, and 18^th centuries includes two copies of Columbus’ account of his discoveries; a “Proof of noble blood” of Sebastián Vizcaíno, Cabeza de Vaca’s account of his journey through the Southwest, and Bernardo de G á lvez’s diary of the conquest of British Pensacola by the Spanish during the American Revolution. 	Selections from the General Collections These materials from the General Collections of the Library of Congress include an English-language military survey published in 1848 and two volumes of Gaspar de Villagrá’s Historia de la Nueva México, written in ballad form and reprinted by the Museo Nacional de México in 1900. 	Selections from the Law Library of Library of Congress This selection from the Library of Congress Law Library is a book of instructions on how to treat the native inhabitants of the Spanish possessions by Bernardo de Gálvez, given to Don Jacobo Ugarte y Loyola, commandant of the Internal Provinces. The instructions are dated August 26, 1786. 	Hans P. Kraus Collection: Spanish American Manuscripts The Hans P. Kraus Collection consists of 162 manuscripts relating to the history of Spanish America during the colonial period, 1492 to 1819. The Kraus Collection was presented to the library in 1969 and includes manuscripts relating to various topics including government, exploration, the Inquisition, civil and viceregal administration, the history of Florida, and the history of the Aztecs. Kraus: Manuscritos Hispanoamericanos Esta colección consiste de 162 manuscritos que relatan la historia de la América española durante el periodo colonial, de 1492 a 1819. 	Selections from the LC Luso-Hispanic Map collection The Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress holds more than 4.5 million maps, a small fraction of which have been converted into digital form. The Selections from the Library of Congress Map Collections portion of Parallel Histories: Spain, the United States, and the American Frontier includes maps by various cartographers from the 17^th to the 20^th centuries. The maps illustrate the development of geographic knowledge of America--its settlement, economic development, and ethnic and geographic diversity.
