In reference to teacher qualificaitons:The A.A. degree (Associate of Arts) is specifically mentioned and other places it says an associate degree. In the state of Florida and other states as well, the A.A. degree, the A.A. degree is a general education degree with no major. The purpose of this degree is to complete general education requirements (English, humanities, math, science, social sciences, etc. The student takes little to no course work in early childhood education. In Florida the student pursuing an associate degree in a specialized area earns an Associate of Science (A.S.) or an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.). Will the A.S. or the A.A.S. degree meet the requirements for an Associate degree? What is meant by related field for the Baccalaureate degree? Is elementary education or special education considered a related field? If an individual has a degree in an unrelated field, can they take a specific number of hours in early childhood education to meet the requirement?
