The new HS Act gives deadlines for HS teachers to achieve certain degree requirements but it mentions something that I am unclear on. It makes the statement that a teacher must have a certain degree in Early Childhood Education or have a degree in a related field and coursework "equivalent to a major" relating to early childhood. How is a "major" interpreted? Does that mean 36 hours of college credit in ECE? This is different that the word "emphasis" in the old regulation that was defined as 18 hrs.
