To develop appropriate intervention strategies and plan effective control programs, it is useful to have information regarding the magnitude and distribution of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. In many countries, the population is likely to suffer from multiple vitamin and mineral deficiencies. This manual provides guidance for national cross-sectional surveys to assess the vitamin and mineral status of the population, the coverage of interventions, and knowledge, attitudes, and practices.
