Speaker Biography: Pam Munoz Ryan spent many summers in her youth visiting the library, where she got hooked on reading and books. A teacher before she became a writer, she has written more than 25 books for young people, including "Esperanza Rising," winner of the Pura Belpre Medal and the Americas Award Honor Book. Her picture books include "When Marian Sang," which received the ALA Robert F. Sibert Honor and NCTE's Orbis Pictus Award. She lives in San Diego County, Calif.
