On 24 and 25 June, the Council of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) will gather in Washington, DC for its tenth regular session.
The directions of Council—composed of the environment ministers or equivalent of Canada, Mexico and the United States—will guide the work of the CEC Secretariat in the coming year.
The goals of the Commission remain as ambitious today as when the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC) was signed in 1993: to protect and enhance our shared environment through cooperation, prevent potential trade and environmental conflicts and to promote the enforcement of environmental law.
In fulfillment of these goals, the CEC has passed some important milestones, which we highlight here.
