CDC Media Advisory - US Surgeon General Carmona to Address First International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health

U.S. Surgeon General Carmona to Address First International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health

WHAT: First International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors.

The Congress will emphasize key scientific advances in physical activity over the past 10 years and highlight the direction of future research and promotion of physical activity and health.

The inaugural Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health commemorates the 10th anniversary of the landmark U.S. Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity and Health.

WHEN: April 17-20, 2006
April 17 at 5 p.m. ET – Opening reception and keynote address by U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona.

April 18-20 – Scientific sessions, plenary lectures, roundtable discussions and poster sessions highlighting the latest physical activity research.
