CDC, FAA, NIH, FDA, FBI and USDA Get the Highest Ratings of Thirteen Federal Government Agencies

Congratulations!  CDC is again ranked the top agency in government according to a nationwide Harris Poll conducted between January 11 and 18, 2007.  We received the most positive votes of any of the agencies included in the poll.  Ninety percent of adults say they understand what the CDC does and 84 percent of them gave us high marks.  Other agencies receiving high ratings from the public include:  FAA (78 percent), NIH (75 percent), FBI (74 percent), and USDA (71 percent).  In the judgment of the people who matter most, those we serve, CDC is once again the best!  Of course, these results are no surprise to me; when I visit state and local communities and our international program sites, I see the incredible front-line impact that you have on people's health every day.  When I read the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, and many other prestigious journals, I also see how we earn this credibility—through our outstanding science and the evidence-based programs it supports.  Please take a few minutes today to celebrate this success and to congratulate your co-workers, especially the unsung heroes and heroines, who made it possible.  Thank you!
