Commander Jacqueline W. Miller

Medical Officer, Division of Cancer Prevention and Control, NCCDPHP

 

Commander Jacqueline W. Miller, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and a Commander with the U.S. Public Health Service. She is a Medical Officer who focuses on breast cancer epidemiology, prevention, and early detection. Dr. Miller did her undergraduate education at Spelman College in Atlanta, and earned her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She then completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. After completing her training, she entered private practice in General Surgery in Atlanta with a special interest in breast cancer for 8 years of private practice.

Dr. Miller later joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer from 2002-2004. Since then she has remained at the CDC as a Medical Officer and now focuses on breast cancer epidemiology, prevention, and early detection. Dr. Miller is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Emory University School of Medicine. In addition she provides clinical services and teaches surgical residents and medical students at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. She has published over 25 articles and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
