Mission to Baghdad:
Toward Rebuilding a National Library
This is an interview with two Library of Congress staff members
who traveled to Baghdad in November 2003. Their mission was to assist
the staff of the Iraqi Library assess the damage to its building
and its collections after two fires, extensive water damage and
and a devastating explosion. With the help of the Iraqi librarians
and citizens who had made heroic efforts to protect their patrimony,
the mission was accomplished.
