Purpose
measure coral growth rates under sediment stress
Information to be Derived
coral growth rates and characterization of physical environment; coral
photosynthetic rates; coral fluorometry

Feb 16: arrive Maui

Feb 17: field tour for Mike Field, Mike Carr, Dawn Lavoie

Feb 18: lab work at Maui Ocean Center

Feb 19: collect translplants and sediment traps from Maalaea Harbor, do coral buoyant weights

Feb 20: photosynthesis chamber experiment with corals from Triangle and boat dock.

Feb 21: collect new corals from Triangle, do buoyant weights

Feb 22: deploy new transplants and sediment traps. Abandon sites at Olowalu and East mole 1, establish new site at East mole 2.

Feb 23: snorkel tour of harbor with Ilsa Kuffner; do PAM trials in laboratory at Maui Ocean Center.

Feb 24: buoyant weights for surviving Sugar Beach corals; download oxygen and light data from photosynthesis trials.

Feb 25: Calibrate PAM light meter with a Licor LI-192SA. Field trial for PAM at the Pali with Maui Ocean Center staff.
