September 15-17, Baltimore MD
at the Baltimore Hilton

The Building a Framework for Healthy Housing conference will gather a broad community of experts to discuss regulatory, policy, research, and outreach needs and their implications in the development of comprehensive, integrated approaches linking health and housing to ensure safe, healthy and efficient housing. The Conference will examine the lessons learned from our national lead poisoning prevention strategy and the current state of the art as we begin building the framework needed to develop a national healthy housing agenda.

The National Healthy
Homes Festiva
l

Make plans to attend the National Healthy Homes Festival at Druid Hill Park on September 12-14, 2008. The Festival will bring together national and local community partners, lead and asthma prevention programs, Healthy Homes organizations, health, housing, and environmental agencies, local universities, federal, state, and city agencies, and the citizens of Baltimore in an effort to promote the benefits of Healthy Homes.

The Festival is not a federally-sponsored event.

There are more than 6 million substandard housing units nationwide. Scientific evidence suggests that health problems such as asthma, lead poisoning, and unintentional injuries are linked to preventable housing deficiencies. Creating healthier, safer and more efficient housing has the potential to save billions in health care costs and prevent the public health problems that arise from substandard housing. We urgently need a national framework that establishes a coordinated and comprehensive approach to preventing diseases and injuries related to health hazards and deficiencies in housing.

The Building a Framework for Healthy Housing conference will focus on key themes that together build the framework necessary to make homes safe, healthy, and efficient for everyone:

  • Building Capacity to Deliver Healthy Housing;
  • Mainstreaming Healthy Housing Principles;
  • Creating Healthy Housing through Research;
  • Developing Enforcement and Regulatory Strategies;
  • Marketing Healthy Housing; and
  • Educating the Public and Practitioner

Conference registration is now open. Registration for this event is free. You must register for hotel rooms separately below.
