New Hampshire library honors five 10-Squared Club members

On Tuesday, September 13, 2005, the New Hampshire State Library Talking Book Service inducted five centenarian patrons into the 102 Talking-Book Club of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress. Leonore Bouchard of Berlin, Bertha Carignan of Manchester, Mary Dalton of Danville, Eleanor Furlow of Enfield, and Marion Greene of Concord were all recognized for their active participation in the NLS free national program. The five inductees enjoy reading a variety of subjects, including biographies, historical novels, mysteries, classics, romances, and adventure.

Twenty-five invited guests attended the ceremony and reception. New Hampshire governor John Lynch issued a document commending the five patrons for their accomplishments and remaining engaged in the talking-book program. NLS network consultant David Whittall presented the 102 certificate, letter, and pin that will be awarded to each of the inductees. Other guests included the New Hampshire commissioner of cultural resources, the administrator of New Hampshire Library Operations, the vice president of the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, representatives from the Colby Memorial Library, and former and current New Hampshire regional librarians.
