This character education initiative will demonstrate how character traits can be identified and developed in schools and communities. Ten elementary schools in Denver will pilot approaches that integrate activities to develop desirable character traits in the environments of schools and communities. Using the High Impact Planning process, each school has developed a declaration statement on character education. From this statement, each school and community will design activities to support the actualization of selected character traits.

A secondary goal of the grant is to expand the process to additional schools. The participating schools will then form a network to assist each other in character education.
