Type of Appointment: Temporary, not-to-exceed 120 days
Benefits: There are no health and life insurance benefits available to temporary employees. However, temporary employees do earn annual (vacation) and sick leave.

Who May be Considered:
By law, employment at most U.S. Government agencies, including the Library of Congress, is limited to U.S. citizens. However, non-citizens may be hired provided that immigration law and other legal requirements are met, and the Library determines there are no qualified U.S. citizens available for the position.

Brief Description of Duties:
Plans, writes and edits a variety of technical documents, including guidelines, reference materials, fact sheets, website entries and standard operating procedures, and ensures accuracy, consistency, format, completeness, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and syntax. Utilizes substantial subject matter knowledge to produce technical material for a variety of audiences. Gathers and verifies facts, writes and/or edits technical material, and develops and presents information that is clear and meaningful to the intended audience. Plans, writes and edits complex materials for print and non-print media that are factual, using a variety of sources. Plans writing or editing projects and carries out successive steps informing the supervisor of problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with instructions and policy guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered, candidates must possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-9 level in the Federal government or at a comparable level of difficulty outside the Federal government. “Specialized experience” is that which demonstrates the ability to explain and interpret and explain a variety of technical subjects (including information technology related subjects), and to write and edit materials tailored to specific media and audiences using office automation products and other software packages. Evidence of meeting the minimum qualifications must be indicated on the application form.
