Quartermaster Company Commander Relieved of Duties

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21, 2004 – The commander of the quartermaster company from which 18 reserve soldiers refused to accompany a recent fuel supply mission in Iraq was relieved of her command today at her own request.

The Army's 300th Area Support Group commander, with the authorization of the 13th Corps Support Command's commanding general, approved the 343rd Quartermaster Company commander's request, according to a written statement from Multinational Force Iraq officials.

"The outgoing commander is not suspected of misconduct, and the move has nothing to do with the guilt or innocence of anyone involved," the statement said. "The outgoing commander will be reassigned commensurate with her rank and experience."

Citing privacy considerations, the statement did not name the outgoing commander or her replacement. The 343rd Quartermaster Company's home base is Rock Hill, S.C.
