Ambulatory Health Care Visits by Children: Principal Diagnosis and Place of Visit The National Center for Health Statistics has just released a new report that presents national estimates of ambulatory health care use by children. This report, "Ambulatory Health Care Visits by Children: Principal Diagnosis and Place of Visit," provides statistics for children under 15 years of age according to principal diagnosis, place of visit (physician office, hospital outpatient department, and hospital emergency department), and patients characteristics (age, sex, and race).Data were collected from two medical-records based surveys: the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS), and the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS).
