Workshops to solicit information from SCSR user groups and technology developers will be held on February 12, 2008 in Wheeling, WV, and on March 11, 2008 in Denver CO. Information obtained will be considered in the development of redesign criteria for the next-generation SCSR. The information gathered at the 2005 workshops resulted in recommendations for the development of both a combination carbon monoxide filter self-rescuer/self-contained self-rescuer (FSR/SCSR) and a dockable self-contained self-rescuer. Each one-day workshop will include discussion on lessons learned from recent mine disasters, impact of MINERS and S-MINERS Act on SCSR development, and development of a course of action.
