Memorial Monuments
Photo, caption below. The Washington Monument is reflected in the black granite wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The memorial, designed by Maya Ying Lin, was dedicated in November of 1982. The V-shaped memorial consists of two 250-foot black granite walls with the inscriptions of more than 58,000 U.S. men and women's names that were killed or missing in the Vietnam War. The memorial serves as a testament to the sacrifice of American military personnel during the Vietnam War. U.S. Navy photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Daniel J. McLain
