Western Union's "Operating Room"
1901

The pioneering communications company standardizes staff training at field offices throughout the country
This 1901 photograph was used in an early employee training film produced by Western Union around 1930. The film explained how workers were to handle so-called X messages--priority messages that communicated time-sensitive stock exchange transactions.
