Professional Development

The College welcomes students who want to enroll in individual courses to learn and to connect with others without seeking a certificate or academic credit by electing to take courses for professional development. In such cases, we will record a grade of Professional Development (PD) in the student's academic record and post it on the official NDU transcript. Students enrolled in certificate programs may take courses for PD; however, for courses to count toward a certificate or as a prerequisite, students must take them for credit. Students taking courses for professional development will:

Professional Development Enrollment (formerly General Studies) (This is not a certificate program) Students undecided on which certificate program best suits their needs may enroll in the College as Professional Development (formerly General Studies) students. Professional Development students may take courses for either graduate/certificate credit (academic credit) or professional development. Students may transfer an unlimited number of courses taken while in a Professional Development student status toward a certificate requirement at any time, as long as the course was taken for academic credit (not a PD grade). This will allow undecided students to sample courses before applying to a certificate program. If you are not already in a certificate program, you may enroll in the IRM College as a Professional Development student through the IRM College website.
