The Office of Child Support EnforcementGiving Hope and Support to America's Children

Child Support Report newsletter

November 16, 1990 DC-9026

TO ALL IV-D DIRECTORS

Dear Colleague:

As you know, the Office of Child Support Enforcement's Child Support Report (CSR), is the only national newsletter dealing exclusively with child support enforcement issues and practice.

For over ten years, it has proved invaluable to front line workers and supervisors, attorneys, court personnel, and program directors. In fact, our readers say the CSR is one of the foremost means they have to learn of legal decisions, policy analyses, regulations, and innovative State practices that they might adapt for their own child support enforcement programs.

CSR is now undergoing major editorial revision and redesign. We have a new editorial board to help us ensure that: (1) the articles keep pace with the growing complexity of child support enforcement issues and (2) that the information we present remains highly relevant and useful to the IV-D community.

This is where you come in. Child Support Report's best stories have always come from knowledgeable people close to the source. I urge you to encourage people in your State and local programs to write about their winning enforcement practices and initiatives, and send their article to Child Support Report.

We are particularly interested in State and local stories on what's being done to meet program standards, on effective location and collections methods, successful interstate enforcement, automation projects, and effective management practices. We would also like to spotlight individual frontline workers, innovative managers, and well-run work units. Of course, we always need a ready supply of interesting pictures and graphics.

With your help, we can continue to give the child support enforcement community the information it wants and needs to know. People with articles ideas and suggestions should get in touch with their Regional Representative or Ann Slayton, CSR editor, (202)401-9380.

In addition, since CSR is now compiling and planning to continually update a calendar which will list child support conferences, meetings, and special events sponsored by the States

(as well as Regions and associations, the judiciary, etc.), we are asking you to let us know about these at the time they are planned.

Together with the name, date, and place of each event, please also include a contact person and phone number, the audience for whom the event is intended, and whether or not it is restricted to your State. We are particularly interested in listing Family Support Council conferences and training conferences, in addition to general State child support conferences. The contact person at OCSE for reporting calendar items is Vicki Uchill, CSR writer, (202)401-9382.

Sincerely yours,

Allie Page Matthews
