FPLS reports
October 25, 1990 DC-9023
TO STATE IV-D DIRECTORS
Dear Colleague:
This is to advise you that effective January 1, 1990, the Federal Parent Locator Service (FPLS) will no longer provide hard copy reports to States. Currently most States receive their FPLS reports, which are comprised of the locate responses returned from the various Federal agencies, on computer tapes or online. This change will help us conserve scarce resources during this time of budgetary constraints by saving money on postage as well as staff time. In addition with the advent of case processing timeframes required by Federal program standards regulations, it is very important that States receive their Locate data as quickly as possible and producing and mailing hard copy creates additional delays.
In the event of an emergency such as printer breakdown, we will be happy to provide hard copy upon request. If you have questions about this new procedure, please call the FPLS on 202-252-5421.
Sincerely,
Allie Page Matthews
Deputy Director
