President Bush to Recognize Fort Carson Woman for Dedication to Volunteer Service |
|
President George W. Bush will meet Diane Campbell upon arrival in Fort
Carson, Colorado, on Monday, November 24, 2003. Campbell is an active volunteer
with the Army Family Team Building program located at Fort Carson.
Earlier this year, President Bush celebrated the first anniversary of the USA
Freedom Corps – his initiative to engage all Americans in service to their
neighbors and their nation. President Bush is recognizing individuals around the
country, like Campbell, who are answering the call to volunteer service.
Campbell has been an active volunteer with the Army Family Team Building
program, a volunteer led effort that provides training and information to
military spouses and families to help them adjust to life in the Army. Campbell
works to support military families who may be transitioning to or from a
military base and helps link new families with important community support
services. Currently, she serves as publicity chairman for the Army Family Team
Building program at Fort Carson. From 2001 to 2002, Campbell served as the
Family Readiness Group volunteer leader for families of the HHC 43rd Area
Support Group which provides information, moral support and social activities
for military families year round, especially during times of deployment.
President Bush created the USA Freedom Corps office at the White House to
foster a culture of service, citizenship and responsibility. Through the USA
Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the call to
volunteer service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to
protect our homeland, support our communities and extend American compassion
around the world. Interested volunteers can find opportunities in their own
neighborhoods through the USA Freedom Corps web site at
www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by
calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
