President Bush to Recognize Texas Woman for Dedication to Volunteer Service

President George W. Bush will meet Tish Aldridge when he arrives in Dallas, Texas, on Monday, November 1, 2004. Aldridge is an active volunteer tutor at West Dallas Community School.

President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and he created USA Freedom Corps to help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 350 individuals around the country, like Aldridge, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

For the past nine years, Aldridge has been a volunteer at West Dallas Community School where she tutors children once a week and assists teachers with classroom activities. Aldridge is also involved with Women of Vision, a volunteer ministry of World Vision, the largest Christian humanity relief and development organization in the world. Aldridge assists with fundraising events that help meet the needs of impoverished and oppressed women and children locally and internationally. She also volunteers for the annual Thanksgiving dinner for low-income families and with Christmas programs for children.

Through USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the Call to Service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect our homeland, support our communities, and extend American compassion around the world.  Interested volunteers can find information at www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
