Moderating the talks is Dr. T. Jake Liang, chief of the liver diseases section of NIDDK's Digestive Diseases Branch.
Dr. Liang earned his bachelor's and medical degrees at Harvard, and completed an internship and residency at Bellevue Hospital Center and New York University Medical Center. He then did clinical and research fellowships in medicine and gastroenterology at Harvard and Massachusetts' General Hospital.
Before joining NIH in 1996, Dr. Liang practiced medicine at Massachusetts
General, and taught at Harvard. His research interests include the molecular
and cell biology of hepatitis B and C viruses; molecular oncogenesis of
hepatocellular carcinoma; and the pathogenesis of viral hepatitis.
