RE:   California Financial Institution Data Match

Dear Colleague:

Since 1993, California's Franchise Tax Board (FTB) has collected delinquent child support on behalf of California's district attorneys. One of the FTB's main enforcement remedies is the issuance of bank levies against debtor assets identified by matching debtor accounts against Form 1099 financial data, which is received annually. With the passage of Public Law 104-193, California developed a quarterly data match program, with financial institutions doing business in the state. The program, which was implemented on January 1, 1999, provides financial assets quarterly instead of annually. The enclosed information about California's financial institution data match program is being shared to offer ideas for other States in the midst of implementation. The information includes:
