TO:        ALL FEDERAL AGENCIES

RE:        New Hire and Quarterly Wage Data Summary

Dear Colleague:

As you know, Federal agencies began submitting information on newly hired employees to the National Directory of New Hires (NDNH) on October 1, 1997, and quarterly information on all Federal employees on January 1, 1998. In a continuous effort to maintain the quality of child support data and provide you with feedback on your submissions, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has prepared four tables (enclosed) containing information about your agency’s New Hire (NH) and Quarterly Wage (QW) data for the second quarter of 1999, covering April 1, 1999 through June 30, 1999. Please review this information carefully.

Table 1 and Table 3 provide the following information:

Table 2 and Table 4 are included if your agency is a payroll agency and reports any data to the NDNH on behalf of other Federal agencies. These tables provide the following information:

As expected some errors are occurring in the NH and QW data submissions. Federal agencies that receive errors back should resubmit the corrected data with the next NH or QW transmission. Payroll agencies are expected to notify the agencies for which they report of any errors in their data. It is the responsibility of each individual agency to make corrections and resubmit the corrected data to the payroll agency. When correcting data errors, OCSE recommends enlisting the help of your human resources department in order to verify the accuracy of the information, especially when correcting errors in name(s) and social security number(s).

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work together to improve the lives of our nation’s children.

Sincerely,

David Gray Ross
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
