SRU Editorial Board
The SRU Editorial Board consists of:
- Managing Editor
- Senior Editor
- XML Editor
- several Associate Editors
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee consiss of the Managing
Editor, Senior Editor, and XML Editor. Associate Editors are appointed
by the Steering Comittee. Members of the Steering Committee (Senior
Editor and XML Editor) are appointed by the Managing Editor (who is
appointed by the SRU Maintenance Agency, currently the Library of Congress).
SRU Implementors Group
There is an SRU Implementors Group, which is open
to any interested implementor. See below.
Responsibilities
- The Managing Editor is responsible for maintaining
the SRU web site, including overall editorial control over the specifications
and documentation; managing the SRU Maintenance Agency; chairing the
Steering Committee; and is the registration authority for protocol
objects.
- The Senior Editor provides much of the technical
content of the documentation as maintained on the SRU web site.
- The XML Editor is the principal editor of XML documents
(schemas, WSDL files, etc.) included in the technical specifications.
- The Editorial Board formulates proposals for review and comment by
the SRU Implementors Group and collectively makes
decisions about changes to the SRU protocol (including SRW and CQL),
the technical specfications, and documentation. Decisions are based
on consensus (see "Steering Committee"). Members of the Board
are also asked occasionally to contribute, or contribute to, technical
papers related to SRU to be published on the SRU website or elsewhere.
- The Steering Committee determines consensus.
- The SRU Implementors Group is
the advisory group to the SRU Editorial Board. Members are those who
are subscribed to the SRU listserv.
Listserv
There is a public listserv
for SRU implementors. Members of this listserv are the SRU Implementors
Group.
There is also a private listserv whose members are the Editorial Board
and invited guests. Its purpose is to conduct communication deemed necessary
to keep private, including consideration of issues that need discussion
beyond the public listserv.
Technical discussion will take place almost entirely on the public listserv,
with rare exceptions when deemed necessary by the Steering Committee.
