South Carolina Early Learning Standards for 3,4, and 5 Year-Old Children

Summary: This report presents the Good Start Grow Smart Early Learning Standards for children (aged 3–5 years) in South Carolina. These Early Learning Standards support the readiness of young children through nurturing early care and education environments and developmentally appropriate practices. The Standards are grouped around five areas of children’s development: (1) Approaches to Learning, (2) Social and Emotional Development, (3) Mathematics, (4) Language and Literacy, and (5) Physical Development and Health. Early childhood professionals can use these standards to improve classroom environment and integrate the curriculum. They are applicable across all early learning environments, including Head Start, child care, Tribal, faith-based, and public and private preschool programs.
